Overview

In February 2021, National Yang Ming University and National Chiao Tung University merged to form "National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University." Both universities were renowned for their research in biomedical sciences and engineering, while also excelling in the humanities, social sciences, and arts. Post-merger, there were two colleges named “Humanities and Social Sciences," one located at the Hsinchu Campus and the other at the Yang Ming Campus. In August 2024, these two colleges were formally integrated into the "College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences" (CHASS).

The newly formed CHASS now comprises 14 academic units, staffed by 101 full-time faculty members and enrolling 850 students. It stands out for its exceptional academic diversity, continually fostering multi-disciplinary research and development.The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences serves as a haven of inspiration, nurturing countless outstanding students. The new CHASS inherits the rich and unique traditions of the former colleges at both campuses, blending the educational and research achievements in humanities, arts, and social sciences. Through interdisciplinary and cross-campus collaboration, community empowerment, and international connections, the college leads its faculty and students in strengthening a profound "Humanistic Impact" amidst the tides of change. With a critical and innovative perspective, it continues to reflect on society, building on past achievements and inspiring future progress.
